www.stride4autism.com One Family’s struggle to get help for their Autistic son…in the face of insurance companies denial to cover him. This is a story about how our Health Insurance Company refuses to pay for any treatment for our child’s Autism, though through the Trailer Preview it is hard to tell where the story is going…it is about Health Insurance Reform….the quotes made in this are the expressions we as a family first felt when our son was diagnosed in 2006, IT IS NOT HOW WE FEEL NOW. Our son has made tremendous strides all the fears we first had, “he’ll never get married, never drive” etc…. were from the first day we were given the diagnosis these were just thoughts I had in my head at first, they quickly diminished. The next day after the diagnosis we said we were going to do whatever it took to try and make a difference. We have worked very hard and had to fight to get any type of therapy for our son, thousands of people across the US are facing the same dilemma that their Health Insurance Companies will not pay for autism. It is heartbreaking and unbelievable at the same time. If you have a question ask us, do not assume. We have had a few nasty comments that I have no idea where they came up with some of the things they said. We spend countless hours in therapy for our son, teaching him at home, making sure he gets the schooling he needs, giving vitamin supplements and special dieting for him, we have researched beyond research and the more we read the

Vikki Carr (born Florencia Bisenta de Casillas Martinez Cardona, July 19 1941, El Paso, Texas) is an American singer from Mexican origins, who has performed in a variety of music genres, including jazz, pop and country, but has enjoyed her greatest success singing in Spanish. After taking the stage name ‘Vikki Carr’ the singer signed with Liberty Records in 1962. Her first single to achieve any success was “He’s a Rebel”, which in 1962 reached No. 5 in Australia and No. 115 in the United States. Producer Phil Spector heard Carr cutting the song in the studio, and immediately recorded a cover version billed to The Crystals that reached No. 1 in the United States. In 1966, Carr toured Vietnam with actor/comedian Danny Kaye. The following year her album It Must Be Him was nominated for three Grammy Awards. The title track reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States in 1967. “It Must Be Him” sold over one million copies, and was awarded a gold disc. She had two other songs make the US Top 40: 1968′s “The Lesson” and 1969′s “With Pen in Hand”. Around this time, Dean Martin called her “the best girl singer in the business”. this looks like an amazing documentary, i’m a year 12 student creating a documentary on my autistic cousin and his family for my major work? in english extension 2.
i would very much like to watch the full documentary, where would i be able to view it?
also i’d love to talk to you more about this, as it would be very helpful for me and my documentary.

    5. Realestate0001 Says:

God Bless you and may God be with you on your walk. My son Johnny is 9, non verbal, in diapers, and has never spoken a word. I love this video and understand all the emotions you’re going through. I use your “quote” about “what if 1 in 150 were born without an arm.” I can’t think of a better way of putting it. Actually, being born with only one arm (although tragic of course) doesn’t pigeon hold a child for life like autism.?

Thank you for NOT being to embarrased to be politicly corrrect. I appreciate this peek into you story.

I’m not sure what you are trying to say in? your comment. What about the video do you not agree with? If you go to our website and read everything, our biggest fight is for getting insurance companies to step up and cover children with Autism and other disabilities. Thanks for your comment. :)

I don’t understand this… there are many different forms of autism so you can’t create such a large label to describe? all people with autism spectrum disorders. The fact is that you don’t know if it will severly limit your child or not because it’s different in evry child with it. Though it is true that no matter what that the lonliness brought on from some of the inabilities to socialize is going to be very hard to cope with for the child… especially in highschool…

7 years out and how much has our family been transformed since diagnosis? Our son is 9 now, mainstreamed in 4th grade and in the GATE program. The difference has been intensive early intervention and diet? restrictions and supplements….and almost all our own money. Bless you for your crusade!
