Scholarships

I will begin my Junior year of High School this Wednesday. How do I even find scholarships for a New York resident and when should I begin to send them in?

Try fastweb and the colleges u are interested should offer scholarships also so talk to their counselor or check their website about how to apply. Ur hs counselor should be collecting scholarships that u qualify for also so meet with them make good grades and be involved in curricular activities and the community cuz there are scholarships for those things also

There are tons of ways to find scholarships and good for you to be thinking about applying already! Your high school guidance counselor will have lists of local scholarships, but most of these are for seniors only. The big scholarship listing books that you can borrow from your local library are great because they list scholarships by your intended college major, club affiliation, place of employment (you and your parents), religion, race for minority scholarships, etc…

There are scholarships for juniors and you can google "scholarships for high school juniors" to find them. Go ahead and apply for some of these, while at the same time work hard on keeping your GPA as high as possible, taking challenging courses, and doing community service. Volunteering is very important and you will see most scholarship applications ask you to share how many hours you’ve logged and where you have helped others while in high school.

Finally, websites like fastweb are wonderful for matching you up with potential scholarship opportunities.

      Good luck! :)
