Generally they only look at the GPA of the last school you attended. (most schools won’t even transfer any class lower than a b or c) But also be aware that you can ussually say you started bad and once you got the hang of it did better, and if your actual grades show that they will take it into consideration. If in doubt, retake any classes you did bad in.

Your A.A. gpa transferred with you, so it is already calculated. They are not separate. You have 1 combined undergrad gpa – the gpa you graduate with – and that’s what they look at.

You can explain a bad year, but they usually only consider the gpa of your last 60 credit hours (last 2 years) of undergrad. So don’t worry about it.

Yes, all your courses will be combined into a new overall GPA that the schools will calculate on their own. This keeps everyone’s overall GPA on the same level playing field. It simply wouldn’t be fair to have one’s students overall GPA reside on only one or two years of coursework when they transferred to a new school; that could be used towards manipulation and grad schools are aware of it. Note also they will calculate a major GPA if you are applying to a specific academic field. The major GPA will be the GPA for all the major-only required courses, regardless of where they were taken. In many academic fields it’s the major GPA that’s more important as it’s more relevant to assess your strength within that subject.
